statement

     Everything tells a story: the choices we make, the colors we use, the way
that we see. Each painting tells a story, just as if written with words.

     My work reflects my love of color and light and a wish to fill my contemporary landscapes with a sense of place where thoughts and emotion exist. I want to draw the viewer into the space to explore their own feelings, making them more aware of the tension of their own internal conflicts. My paintings have a voice that conveys a sense of who we are and what we feel.

     As I work, I feel connected to the painting as if it’s an extension of myself. I make my decisions based on what feels right to me. I try not to over-think things, but to paint by instinct and feel. Using emotion as a guide I try to stay close to a balance between tension and calm.

     When I paint I’m reminded that seeing in a new way brings new understanding. I paint to see more clearly and deeply, and ultimately realize the truth of things.
